Ongar
Ongar is a popular area for those that love the quaint village life, but with just enough facilities to satisfy most people. Properties to rent in Ongar can be scarce, and when they do become available, there is a mixture both large houses and apartments. Rental prices in Ongar are consistant and good as it is a popular place to live and most properties are let out within days of coming on the market.
Ongar was an important medievil town, being a through route to larger towns such as Epping, Chelmsford and Brentwood. The town itself is the idylic old English High Street with buildings dating back hundreds of years and old narrow walkways barely wide enough for two people to pass. The shops are plentiful enough, free parking in the High Street, there are resteraunts to choose from, pubs, cafes, banks and a Sainsuburys and Tesco Express.
The old Central Line Tube station is still there but used only for weekend journeys to and from North Weald. The bus serves as the main method of local transport, however, there are direct roads through to Epping which is just 5 minutes away by car , and Chelmsford and Brentwood which can be reached within 20 minutes. There are no less than three primary schools covering Ongar.
